Carrifran January 1st 2022

This was an informal gathering to celebrate the site’s acquisition - and the planting of the first trees - on January 1st 2000. It also marked the unveiling of a new interpretation panel tracking the changing species recorded in the valley since the trees matured. The late John Savory was the critical individual in initiating and sustaining systematic recording of birds in the valley, and his, wife, daughter and grandson unveiled the panel. A number of people who had been at that first gathering in 2000 were present today.
